That’s really the most appropriate title that I can think of. So for the unemployed in the group who are now in the “extended benefits” phase, this post is for you.
I was looking into all the conditions that come with the extended benefits phase and apparently you have to keep detailed records of your job search and send it in at the end of every month. No problem. That’s fine. However, you have to go in person to places and have a company name and number and address. The only places that I know that allow that are retail stores, and I have applied to those types of places already. Everywhere else, they direct you to their website. Then there are places like craigslist where you send your resume through e-mail. I have rarely seen a company name, address or phone number there. Not only that, but I know from when I was working that the hiring managers rarely keep your information once they hire someone, and even in some places when they decide who they want to interview.
So anyway, I call this afternoon to find out how I can satisfy this requirement. I was on hold for 20 minutes before I was able to speak to someone, and when I finally did explain my situation to this woman, I kid you not, her answer was “I don’t know”. Oh gee great lady. That’s really helpful for someone who is trying to maintain her benefits while she looks for a job. There’s like two seconds of silence because I am waiting for her to add something to that. She doesn’t and just when we are about to hang up, she tells me to hold on and she’ll ask her supervisor. I wait for another few minutes and when she comes back, she tells me that her supervisor said basically the same thing. Thanks for your help ladies. I love the fact that I’m unemployed and people who don’t know important things pertaining to the agency that they work for, have jobs. I e-mailed someone at unemployment, but I really don’t know what to expect. When it comes to maintaing benefits they don’t know the answers to your questions, but I bet if they snatched it away they would have all sorts of reasons on why they are screwing you over.
I should expect things like this to happen and not be in disbelief or upset over it. Isn’t that life. It always seem that jerks and idiots have so much and do nothing to deserve it, while everyone else is crapped on.
