I absolutely love Bath and Body Works. Seriously, I absolutely love their scents. My current faves are the Dancing Waters, White Citrus and Sea Island Cotton. Since I got laid off in November, I’ve been trying to be frugal in everything from makeup to hair care to fragrances. I used to splurge on those things, even though I never considered myself “high maintenance”. Trust me, I never looked like those girls who walk down the street looking like supermodels.
Instead of fancy department store makeup, I switched over to drugstore makeup and I truly cannot see any difference, except in price of course. My favorite makeup is by Revlon. I love their quad eyeshadows, even though I don’t use all four at once like a lot of people. I personally think that using too much eyeshadow makes you look like a drag queen, but that’s just me. I think their eyeshadow has the best staying power and you have more control over how dark or light you want to wear it. The fancy brands try to market themselves that way, but as someone who has used expensive makeup, take it from me. No matter how much or how little shadow you use, the color will stay the same.
I never use foundation, even though I probably should. I don’t get the foundation craze. I’ve even stopped using BE. First of all, I don’t care what anyone says, you can never find a shade to perfectly match your skin tone. Secondly, no matter how “light” it is supposed to be, you still feel like you have something on your face. And finally, foundation is supposed to even out your skin tone, but for those of us with blemishes or whatnot, you’ll just wind up piling more foundation on those areas making it quite obvious that you are in fact wearing foundation.
I always use some kind of fragrance. I know some people who say that “Fragrances are annoying. As long as you shower then you don’t need to worry”, but I don’t pay any attention to them, and I am quite adamant about showering every day. Since I got laid off I switched to Bath and Body Works. A good sized bottle of lotion will run you about $10.50, whereas perfume from the department store will cost upwards of $80.00. Not only that, but in my experience, the scent fades after a few hours. I’ve been using Bath and Body Works for months and the scent lasts all day. Even when I find another job, I don’t think I could switch back to the fancy makeup, perfumes, etc. for the simple fact that the stuff that I am using now works so much better.
